I could barely contain my excitement when I learned Quixotic Polish was releasing a neon collection. You don't understand. I love cartoons and have a background in animation, so I absolutely LOVE bright, bold, vivid colors. I like my neons to be eye-searing bright. So bright that you can see my nails in the dark!
Miami Vibes is a bright highlighter yellow with silver holographic flakes. I applied two medium coats, which I found to be slightly problematic during clean up. The thicker jelly formula wanted to clump together at times. I removed a little too much polish around the edges of a nail or two, but made it work in my favor.
Krazy is a slime green jelly with silver holographic flakes. Aptly named because I'm crazy about this color. It automatically puts me in the mood for summer. This time I started with one thin coat to lay the color on the nail. Then applied two medium coats to make the color brighter and more opaque. It worked brilliantly. I also recommend clean up between each coat to avoid removing too much polish. I used this application method for the remaining colors.
Sexy Beaches is a cool ocean blue jelly with silver holographic flakes. Not quite as neon as I would like, but still a very vibrant and beautiful polish.
Shake Senora is a fuchsia jelly with silver holographic flakes. (Who else hears the Harry Belafonte song in their head?) I adore this color. It's everything I want a neon to be and more.
WILD, WILD LOVE
Wild, Wild Love is a hot pink jelly with silver holographic flakes. It's neon-licious and my favorite from the collection. I immediately wanted to find myself a pool party!
My top picks are Wild, Wild Love, Shake Senora and Krazy. All the colors in this collection are vibrant and fun. They'll make for fabulous pedis, too. I can already picture my brightly painted toes peeking out of the sand or lounging by the pool.
Do you love neons? Which color makes you want to hop on a plane to Miami? Do you have any special tips to apply jelly polishes?
