Introducing Quixotic Polish
PRESS SAMPLE
I have the Debut Collection from Quixotic Polish, a new brand making a splash on the indie polish scene.
CHER'S FAVORITE SPARKLE
I'm starting with my favorite of the bunch. Cher's Favorite Sparkle is instant mermaid nails! It's a shimmery aqua multichrome with holographic glitter and magenta/orange/green shifting flakies.
VIOLET'S FIRST DANCE
Violet's First Dance is a juicy plum purple to red multichrome with scattered holographic sparks. Purple loves me and I love this purple. Once you step into the right light - WOW! You won't be able to stop staring at your nails.
WEDNESDAY'S PINK
Wednesday's Pink is a squishy pink jelly with blue shimmer and holographic microglitter. As with all jelly polishes, it's somewhat sheer. Your nail line will show through, but it's easily fixed if you apply a base color first or build up multiple layers to make it more opaque. Visible nail line doesn't bother me, so I rock it as is.
POLISH NEXT DOOR
Polish Next Door is a black jelly filled with a rainbow of multicolored ultrachrome flakies. It's like a little black party dress on your nails with a touch of pizzazz to spice things up. It looks très chic with a matte top coat. I used Essie Matte About You, but it sometimes leaves these weird white spots after application. I'm on the hunt for a good matte top coat.
LILAC CHICKS
Lilac Chicks is a sweet periwinkle/lilac with pink shimmer and scattered holographic sparks. If fairies wore nail polish made out of unicorn dust, this would be it. Wearing it made me feel like I could snap my fingers and things would magically appear.
TOPPED AND CONFUSED
So how can you make magical polish even more magical? With glitter! Topped and Confused is an iridescent glitter topper with a thick, gelatinous consistency. I layered it over Lilac Chicks. My matte top coat was still laying about and my curiosity got the best of me. Curiosity is a good thing.
If I may be so bold, I predict that Quixotic Polish will become a popular indie brand. It has a luxe, modern feel to it that's both stylish and playful. I love the consistency of the formula. The polish applies smoothly and levels easily. It's a very strong debut collection that's cohesive and well-edited. My personal favorites are Cher's Favorite Sparkle and Violet's First Dance.
Are you going to pick up anything from Quixotic's debut collection? Which color is your favorite? Let me know in the comments. Oh, and if you know of a good matte top coat, let me know that too!
